International openBIMweek 2011
06.04.2011

From June 6 till June 10 the international openBIMweek 2011 will take place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The openBIMweek is an aggregation of several events that will take place in one week on different locations in Amsterdam. All events are focused on the use of open standards for BIM.

During the openBIMweek different events are organized targeted at BIM users, managers and developers. The events range from starters to advanced users. There will be presentations, workshops and social events. Events are organized by public organizations, commercial companies and research institutes. The openBIMweek expects to welcome several hundred attendees. It promises to be an interesting week for everyone.

OpenBIM is “a transparent approach in the AEC industry that enables all stakeholders to be informed of project methodology, data and results without the need or obligation to use prescribed software”. In practice this means using openBIM standards like IFC, BCF and others.
The openBIM approach is a catalyst for process development in the AEC industry. This will accelerate knowledge and usage of the openBIM approach and, in the end, will result in a higher quality of the build environment.

All information about the openBIMweek, and on the individual events, can be found on http://openbimweek.org/
Most events are open for registration. Some other events are finalizing their agenda and will be online soon. The program is still open for events. Feel free to suggest some.

This week is possible thanks to several sponsors. Our special thanks go to Kubus, Catenda AS and the Dutch BNA. Credits to other sponsors can be found on http://openbimweek.org/sponsors/ (there are sill several opportunities available to sponsor the openBIMweek).

We hope to welcome you in June in Amsterdam for a full week of openBIM!
